DO’S
- DO HANG A SHOWER CURTAIN WHEREVER THERE IS A SHOWER CURTAIN BAR. IF YOUR SHOWER AREA HAS A WINDOW, AN ADDITIONAL SHOWER CURTAIN IS REQUIRED TO PREVENT WATER DAMAGE TO THE WINDOW SILL AND FRAME.
- DO LET US KNOW IF LIGHT BULBS IN PUBLIC AREAS ARE BURNT OUT. WE WANT TO REPLACE THEM IMMEDIATELY.
- DO HELP US KEEP OUR FRONT HALL WALLS CLEAN BY USING THE REAR ENTRANCE WHEN BRINGING YOUR BICYCLE IN AND OUT OF THE BUILDING.
- DO LOCK BIKES ONLY TO BIKE RACKS, WHERE AVAILABLE.
- DO NOTIFY THE OFFICE OF ANY MAINTENANCE CONCERNS (DRIPPY FAUCETS, WATER DAMAGE ON WALLS OR CEILING, ETC.). WE NEED TO KNOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND TO AVOID ANY ADDITIONAL DAMAGE TO THE BUILDING.
- DO PUT GARBAGE AND ALL EMPTY FOOD CONTAINERS IN PLASTIC OR PAPER BAGS (OR WRAP VERY SECURELY IN PAPER) BEFORE PLACING IN TRASH CANS.
- DO BE AS ECONOMICAL AS POSSIBLE WITH YOUR UTILITIES IF THEY ARE INCLUDED IN YOUR RENT. WE TRY HARD TO KEEP OUR RENTS REASONABLE AND NEED YOUR HELP TO KEEP COSTS DOWN.
- DO MAINTAIN A MINIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 55 DEGREES IN APARTMENT AT ALL TIMES.
DON’TS
- DO NOT USE ELECTRIC HEATERS OR ADD A WINDOW A/C WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN PERMISSION. DO LET US KNOW IF THERE IS A HEATING OR A/C PROBLEM. NORMALLY, WE CAN SOLVE ANY HEAT OR A/C PROBLEMS WITHOUT ADDING ADDITIONAL APPLIANCES.
- DO NOT INSTALL PLASTIC WINDOW SHEETING, CAULK WINDOWS OR WEATHERSTRIP. MANY OF THESE PRODUCTS CAUSE CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE AND LESSEE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THE REPAIRS.
- DO NOT ALLOW OIL, GREASE, OR FOOD GARBAGE OF ANY KIND TO GO DOWN YOUR SINK DRAINS. IT IS THE ONLY THING THAT CLOGS THEM UP. (IF YOU HAVE A GARBAGE DISPOSAL, USE IT TO GRIND ONLY SOFT GARBAGE. DO NOT USE THE DISPOSAL FOR BONES, NON-FOOD ITEMS, OR FOR OIL OR GREASE).
- DO NOT USE REAR FIRE ESCAPE IN INCLEMENT WEATHER. FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY, USE FRONT DOOR ONLY.
- DO NOT USE SALT OR “ICE-MELT” TO MELT SNOW OR ICE ON ANY PARTS OF LEASED PREMISES. IT IS HIGHLY CORROSIVE TO METAL AND VERY DAMAGING TO CONCRETE.
- DO NOT LEAVE LOCKED PUBLIC AREAS OPEN. DO USE LOCKS ON DOORS, WINDOWS, MAILBOXES, BASEMENT LOCKERS, ETC. THEY ARE FOR YOUR PROTECTION AND THAT OF YOUR NEIGHBORS.
- DO NOT CONGREGATE OR LOUNGE IN HALLS, ENTRANCES, STAIRS OR LAWNS.
- DO NOT DO ANY ALTERATIONS (PAINTING, ETC.) TO YOUR APARTMENT WITHOUT LESSOR’S PRIOR WRITTEN CONSENT.
- DO NOT CHANGE LOCKS OR ADD ADDITIONAL ONES. IF YOU ARE LOCKED OUT, CALL US–DO NOT BREAK IN. IF, HOWEVER, YOU DO BREAK IN, LET US KNOW IMMEDIATELY SO WE CAN RE-ESTABLISH YOUR SECURITY.
- DO NOT BE A “DOOR SLAMMER”. IF YOUR DOOR DOES NOT CLOSE PROPERLY, LET US KNOW SO IT CAN BE FIXED.
- DO NOT USE TAPE OR ADHESIVE DECALS ON YOUR WALLS OR APPLIANCES. SMALL NAIL TYPE PICTURE HOOKS ARE ACCEPTABLE FOR NORMAL PICTURE HANGING. WATER SOLUBLE STICK-ON HOOKS MAY BE USED ON PAINTED WALLS ONLY.
- DO NOT LEAVE SHOES, UMBRELLAS, TRASH, OR OTHER PERSONAL ITEMS IN THE PUBLIC HALLS OR PORCHES.
- DO NOT DISCARD CIGARETTE BUTTS, GUM WRAPPERS, ETC., ON THE SIDEWALK OR ENTRANCE HALLS. WE TRY TO KEEP ALL PUBLIC AREAS CLEAN BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP.
- DO NOT ATTACH OR DISPLAY SIGNS, NOTICES OR ADVERTISEMENTS ON OR ABOUT PREMISES.
- DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING ON THE OUTER SILL OR ON THE OUTSIDE OF ANY WINDOW. ALSO DO NOT THROW ANYTHING OUT OF A WINDOW, DOOR OR PORCH INTO ANY COURT, YARD OR HALL. DO NOT HANG OR SHAKE ANY TABLECLOTH, DUST CLOTH, TOWEL, CURTAIN, RUG OR CARPET, OR ARTICLE OF CLOTHING FROM ANY WINDOW, DOOR OR PORCH.
- DO NOT USE PORTABLE BARBECUES ON FRONT LAWNS, STOOPS OR PORCHES. YOU MAY USE THEM IN REAR YARD AREAS.
- DO NOT STORE ANYTHING IN UTILITY ROOMS WHICH HAVE FURNACE AND/OR HOT WATER TANKS IN THEM. DO NOT PLACE ANYTHING NEAR FURNACE RETURN AIR VENTS.
- DO NOT PARK INOPERATIVE MOTOR VEHICLES OR WORK ON ANY MOTOR VEHICLES ON PREMISES.
